The Report to the 20th National Congress of the CPC proposes that "Respecting, adapting to, and protecting nature is essential for building China into a modern socialist country in all respects. We must uphold and act on the principle that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets, and we must remember to maintain harmony between humanity and nature when planning our development." Bohui Paper regards the establishment and improvement of the environmental management system as an important foundation for the Company's green development, formulates and strictly implements the environmental management system, continuously improves the level of environmental management, and contributes to protecting the environment and maintaining ecological balance.
Environmental Management System
Bohui Paper adheres to the concept of green development, and based on the national standard of GB/T 24001 environmental management system, has established an environmental management structure with the general manager of the Company as the first person in charge, the safety and environmental protection department, the environmental protection leaders of each production unit, and the production frontline environmental protection personnel to perform specific environmental protection tasks. The Company regularly updates the List of Laws and Regulations on Environmental Management System to ensure that production activities and relevant environmental protection measures meet national and local regulatory requirements. In 2022, the environmental management system established at Jiangsu Base of Bohui Paper passed ISO14001:2015 certification.
Focusing on environmental protection responsibilities, "Three Wastes" (waste water, waste gas and waste residues) management, emergency management of emergent environmental incidents, investigation of potential hazards of soil and groundwater pollution, noise, and environmental protection training and education, the Company has formulated and continuously optimised a series of environmental protection management systems in combination with relevant national laws and regulations, and continuously promoted standardised environmental protection management in all links of production and operation. In addition, the Company has formulated the Environmental Protection MBOS Assessment Method, which details the assessment content of various environmental issues and compensation rewards and punishment standards to enhance employees' environmental awareness and encourage employees to implement environmental compliance and continuous improvement in performance in daily work.
Environmental Risk Management
Bohui Paper has formulated management systems and processes such as the Management Procedures for Responding to Organisational Environment and Risk and Opportunities, the Environmental Factor Identification and Evaluation Procedures, the Procedures for Hazard Source Identification, Risk Assessment and Risk Control, etc., through systematic identification and evaluation of environmental risks and opportunities, and takes improvement measures in a timely manner to minimise and eliminate environmental risks in production and operation. In 2022, the Company further strengthened environmental risk monitoring and response work. Jiangsu Base of Bohui Paper carried out environmental factor identification actions to comprehensively identify the environmental factors involved in various activities of production and operation and their degree of influence, compiled a list of important environmental factors and general environmental factors, and formulated control measures for various environmental factors. In addition, Jiangsu Base of Bohui Paper conducted an annual legal and regulatory compliance evaluation to review the compliance of environmentrelated laws and regulations and other related requirements applicable to the Company's activities, products and services.
In order to improve Bohui Paper's ability to prevent and deal with emergent environmental pollution incidents, the Company has formulated management regulations such as the Environmental Self-Monitoring Plan, the Environmental Emergency Response Plan, and the Environmental Special Emergency Drill Plan in accordance with the requirements of national laws and regulations such as the Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China and the National Environmental Emergency Response Plan, and established rapid, scientific and effective emergency rescue mechanisms in emergency situations. The Company also regularly organises employees to conduct environmental protection training and environmental emergency drills. In 2022, there were no major environmental impact incidents in Bohui Paper.
Green Mill Construction
Guided by the concept of cleaner production and green development, Bohui Paper always regards "practising green, ecological, and sustainable development and building green garden-style factories" as an important task of the enterprise. Through the transformation and optimisation of technology, process and equipment, it has improved infrastructure construction, increased investment in the construction of "Green Mill", and carried out measures such as environment greening and beautification, to promote harmonious symbiosis between mill operations and the environment. In recent years, through the implementation and promotion of a series of projects such as the transformation and upgrading of wastewater treatment facilities, the incineration and disposal of sludge, slag, wood chips and other solid wastes with combustion heat value, recycling reclaimed water and condensate water and other actions, the Company has achieved positive results in green and low-carbon and resource conservation. Jiangsu Base of Bohui Paper formulated the Energy Management Plan for 2022 and implemented a series of energyconservation and emission-reduction technological upgrading projects, which saved a total of 5,487.32 tons of standard coal equivalent and 754,700 tons of water during the year. Jiangsu Base of Bohui Paper was awarded as "Green Factory of Jiangsu Province" in 2022, after Shandong Base of Bohui Paper was named the first batch of "Municipal-level Green Factory" in Zibo City in 2021.
