Sustainable production (Energy & Emissions)
Promoting green production is an important means to promote energy conservation, emission reduction and resource conservation. It is also an effective way to enhance the synergistic effect of pollution reduction and carbon reduction and promote the green transition of the economy and society. Bohui Paper actively responds to the call of national environmental protection and carbon peaking and carbon neutrality policies, and comprehensively promotes pollution control and comprehensive resource management, striving to reduce the operating environmental footprint, and committing to building itself into an environmental friendly enterprise
Energy Conservation and Carbon Reduction
Taking national policies and low-carbon cutting-edge technologies as external guidance, and taking the Company's own green transition needs and the beautiful desire to promote the industry's low-carbon development as internal driving forces, Bohui Paper pays closely attention to the development trend of national policies related to carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, actively strengthens energy management, and starts to formulate scientific and reasonable carbon reduction targets and carbon reduction roadmap in line with corporate business strategies, accelerating the green and low-carbon transition of its own operations, as well as the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain.
Energy Management
Bohui Paper strictly abides by laws and regulations such as the Energy Conservation Law of the People's Republic of China and the Measures for the Administration of Energy Conservation of Major EnergyConsuming Entities, and establishes and continuously improves the energy management system based on GB/T 23331- 2020 standards. The Company set up an energy management group, defined energy management responsibilities, promoted factories and workshops to formulate specific energy consumption targets, and supervised and tracked the implementation of energy management plans to ensure the effective operation of various plans. Jiangsu Base of Bohui Paper has compiled the Energy Management Manual, formulated energy management plans and energy conservation goals based on operating data, and implemented a number of energy management measures to continuously improve the level of energy management. Both Shandong Base and Jiangsu Base of Bohui Paper have passed ISO50001 energy management system certification.
The Company actively carried out actions of energy conservation and emission reduction to reduce energy consumption and improve energy utilisation efficiency by methods of strengthening technology and equipment upgrades, improving processes and procedures, strengthening digital construction, etc. In 2022, Shandong Base of Bohui Paper further strengthened energy and measuring management, investigated steam leak points, drain valve failure points, and heat preservation loss points one by one, and strictly reviewed the steam consumption of various projects. After tracking and improving, the steam loss rate of Shandong Base of Bohui Paper was controlled at about 5%, and the cost savings reached RMB21.33 million in half a year. In addition, Jiangsu Base of Bohui Paper uses smart meters to monitor the power consumption of the workshops, and makes statistics on the load, current, voltage, and operating data of electrical equipment to provide real-time data support for promoting the improvement of energysaving technologies.
The Company attaches great importance to the optimisation of energy structure and will continue to increase the proportion of clean energy usage. In 2022, the main energy sources of Bohui Paper were purchased steam, purchased electricity, diesel and natural gas. Among them, the proportion of purchased steam and purchased electricity was 59.49% and 37.36%, respectively. Jiangsu Base of Bohui Paper plans to use approximately 270,000 square metres of floor space on the roofs of the Company's existing plants and warehouses to carry out the construction of a photovoltaic power station project with an installed capacity of 30 megawatts. Meanwhile, the Company is actively cooperating with local government departments and enterprises to form a green park and explore green power cooperation.

Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Bohui Paper has been regarding GHG management as part of its daily business management activities and is committed to continuously implementing carbon reduction initiatives throughout the product life cycle. Shandong Base and Jiangsu Base of Bohui Paper carry out a third-party verification of GHG emissions every year to obtain the accurate data. The Company's direct GHG emissions are mainly from fossil fuel combustion emissions and emissions from anaerobic wastewater treatment, while the indirect emissions are mainly from purchased electricity and heat. In 2021, the Company's indirect emissions accounted for 97.52%. In 2022, the Company set up a Carbon Neutral Project Group to develop the carbon reduction strategy and an implementation roadmap, and will gradually promote the implementation of the Carbon Neutral Strategy through its own operations, as well as cooperation with upstream and downstream partners.

Bohui Paper Awarded Carbon Footprint Certificate of Products
In March 2022, Bohui Paper successfully completed the product carbon footprint certification for its white ivory cardboard series, cultural paper and corrugated cardboard paper, and obtained the product carbon footprint certificate. The product carbon footprint evaluation utilised efootprint life cycle assessment software for the analysis and processing of data, and adopted the Greenhouse gases-Carbon footprint of products-Requirements and guidelines for quantification (ISO14067:2018) for the evaluation. By carrying out the product carbon footprint evaluation, the Company can better understand the carbon emission generation pathways and emissions in the production of products, which will help further explore the emission reduction potential and lay a more solid foundation for the future GHG emissions reduction.
