Water Resources Management
As the indispensable resources for manufacturing industry, water resources play important roles in the production and operation of enterprises. In June 2022, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China and other six departments issued the Action Plan for Improving Industrial Water Efficiency, which put forward stricter requirements for industrial water resources management. Bohui Paper actively responded to national policies, formulated a series of water resources management systems such as water conservation management systems and water conservation target responsibility systems, and carried out water resources risk assessment to improve the level of water resources management in a targeted and multi-angle manner. In 2022, the Company carried out water balance tests to measure indicators such as water withdrawal, water discharge, water consumption and wastewater reuse, sorted out the Company's existing water-saving projects to fully understand the water use situation and identify water-saving potential, and based on this, formulated practical water-saving measures and plans. The Company strictly implemented the watersaving system and management plan during the year, and adopted a series of watersaving technological upgrading measures, which effectively reduced the waste of water resources and improved water use efficiency. In Shandong Base of Bohui Paper, white water is used to replace clean water in floor cleaning and diluting chemicals. By means of reducing the diameter of the high-pressure spray nozzle and recycling spray water, clean water loss is effectively reduced, achieving the remarkable effect of saving water by an average of 10,000 cubic metres per day. Jiangsu Base of Bohui Paper has set up white water recovery units, where the fibre in the white water produced from paper machine is recovered by "multidisc filter and white water tower combined" process, and most of the excess white water is sent to the chemi-mechanical pulp workshop for reuse.

Bohui Paper is committed to taking various measures to carry out compliance treatment of wastewater, air pollutants and waste generated in industrial production processes, and actively promotes resource recovery and comprehensive utilisation.
Wastewater Treatment
Bohui Paper strictly implements wastewater discharge management in accordance with relevant laws and regulations such as the Law of the People's Republic of China on Prevention and Control of Water Pollution, the Discharge Standard of Water Pollutants for Pulp and Paper Industry and industry management standards. Jiangsu Base of Bohui Paper has formulated the Wastewater Management Procedure to carefully divide the types of wastewater such as production wastewater, domestic sewage, rainwater, chemical wastewater and wastewater from papermaking to better guide wastewater discharge monitoring and wastewater treatment. Aiming at the key pollutant indicators for wastewater discharge, in 2022, Jiangsu Base of Bohui Paper formulated the Assessment Methods for Internal Control of COD and SS in Wastewater Discharge of Papermaking, and the Environmental Accountability Assessment Scheme, linking the performance of pollution prevention and control with the salary of administrators and employees in charge, and strengthening the supervision and management of pollution prevention and control through the implementation of a reward and punishment mechanism. In 2022, the discharge of major wastewater pollutants from Bohui Paper significantly decreased compared to 2021.
